Horvath, Peter
Peter Horvath, born of Hungarian descent into a lineage of photographers, began taking pictures at age 6. After spending his formative years inhaling darkroom fumes, he worked as a stills photographer until he discovered computers in 1995 when a friend gave him a Macintosh Plus. Shortly thereafter, he happened across the work of Dadaists John Heartfield and Hannah Hoch, whose work exposed him to the world of photo-montage. He has since produced digital collage works exploring narrative, abstraction, and the hypnagogic, and continues to push the boundaries of convention, displacing the familiar and nostalgic with unique, surreal touches. Peter’s ability to master bold compositions that convey complex concepts is what makes his work stand out. His impactful images make him a natural choice for the nuances of editorial work, and the call-to-action needs of advertising. His work is featured in the newly published book from Die Gestalten, "Illusive - Contemporary Illustration", as well as an upcoming book on collage.

Loeffler, Max
Max was born in rural Germany in 1989 and started out illustrating extensive album artworks for punk and metal bands after doing his homework. After graduating from the Graphic Design department at Hochschule Darmstadt in 2017, he began working as a freelancer with renowned clients like The New Yorker, The New York Times, Adidas and Google. He still enjoys creating artwork for bands.
Influenced by the classic surrealists as well as retro science-fiction book covers, he likes to look below the surface of one-to-one visual translations, adding meaning and room for inference by wrapping his illustrations in the dense atmosphere of a surreal and melancholic parallel universe. His urge is to translate and decipher what can only be felt, not directly seen, and to amplify this visually, particularly in his personal work.

Giles, Ben
Ben Giles was born in UK in 1992, and currently works as a freelance artist in Norwich. Ben Giles earned a BA in Fine Art at Kingston University. His work is defined by his handmade collages, utilising antique and vintage materials to create often colourful and detailed artworks. The collage often spills into other mediums such as sculpture, paint and illustration.
His work is inspired from many different things such as colour, nature, juxtaposition, children’s encyclopaedias, repetition, metamorphosis. Artistically speaking influences range from Bosch’s complex and surreal character filled landscapes, to the metamorphosing patterns of MC Escher. Artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Rousseau and Miro have defined the balancing of colour and the juggling of shape and composition over the years.
Ben has focused on working with commercial commissions for several years, such as magazine editorials, fashion labels and advertising campaigns. He has also exhibited his work around the world, held creative workshops and partaken in art residencies. His goal is to continue to work with a large variety of clients to explore the further possibilities of his work, while also sharing and exhibiting his creations to as many people as possible.

Wilson, Joe
Leicester-born Joe Wilson studied at Leeds Metropolitan University, Graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in Graphic Arts and Design in 2007. After a lifetime of drawing and doodling Joe Wilson became serious about being an artist at an early age and has left himself 'no other option'. Joe Wilson took an interest in printmaking at university and studied this heavily in his final year, with a great deal of his work taking the form of screen prints
and etchings. This forms the foundation of Joe Wilson's work today, although since finishing university and leaving the print facilities, other ways of creating similar effects have had to be employed. Joe Wilson's work consists of painstakingly detailed, hand-drawn illustrations, usually in fine-line pen or pencil, that are then scanned and edited on the mac.
Joe Wilson takes his influence from an array of sources including old engravings, 70s Vinyl covers and surrealist art. Joe Wilson is particularly interested in ideas of evolution, space, and complex constructions.
Joe Wilson's unique drawing style attracts a mixture of different clients from editorial to fashion, he has produced work for clients such as: The Guardian, Adidas, 21st Amendment, Mojo magazine, Prospect Magazine, RKCR/Y&R, The Yards, Peter Werth, The Big Chill Festival, and Topshop.
With aspirations to establish himself firmly as an illustrator, he hopes to work on many more commercial projects whilst continuing to produce his personal 'thought experiments' for his own pleasure.
Phillips, Craig
Craig phillips has been providing illustrations to the publishing and advertising industries in the United States, Australia and Europe for over a decade.
He has created book jackets and interior art for Random House, Penguin, Scholastic, Simon & Schuster, Hachette Book Group, TOR Books, Wizards Of The Coast, Oxford University Press and many more. He has created tour posters for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters and provided editorial work to many publications including Rolling Stone Magazine.
His work has been included in art annuals such as Spectrum 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18, Society Of Illustrators 53, Luerzers 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide, The Art Of Modern Rock, A Fistful Of Rock, Creative Quarterly 16 and 23. Work has also been exhibited at the Society of Illustrators 53 Book Illustration exhibition in New York, the 2nd Spectrum exhibition at the Museum of American Illustration, a group exhibition at the Erskine gallery in Sydney and a solo exhibition at the University of Arkansas in Florida.
George, Patrick
Peter Scott's (a.k.a PatrickGeorge) skills of illustration and design are largely concept-driven, clean, punchy and witty. He enjoys working on his own children's books (A drove of bullocks, A filth of starlings, Little Miss Muffet and other rhymes, and Opposites published by PatrickGeorge), but his style works equally well in a corporate and media context.

Berry Rhys, Alan
Alan Berry Rhys is a graphic artist and illustrator home based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been a graphic design professor at Buenos Aires University for 8 years. As an artist, I have produced several solo shows at Buenos Aires (Argentina), Rosario (Argentina), San Francisco (CA, USA) and Santiago de Chile (Chile). My evolution in fast forward: Madagascar, Fargo, Tucson, Asheville, Manhattan... ultimately landed in Brooklyn. I work primarily on editorial and corporate / advertising illustration and animation / motion design. I am well versed in visual consulting and creative direction. One of my favorite aspects of visual communication is the conceptual process, be it selling a product or conveying the intricacies of a complex article.

Bollinger, Peter
Renowned in the field of commercial art, Peter Bollinger is an award winning illustrator whose clients include Grey Advertising, Sony Entertainment, DreamWorks, Sega, Wizards of the Coast, Nintendo, Mars, Harper Collins, Scholastic and many other publishing, advertising, and entertainment organizations. Holding degrees in industrial and environmental design, Peter's expertise covers diverse fields, from the design of computer terminals and street furniture, to monorails and automobiles. He has won major design and illustration awards in the United States, Australia, Italy and Japan. He undertakes architectural and concept design for numerous clients locally and abroad such as Disney Imagineering, Discovery Communications, and numerous Japanese theme parks. Peter works in two separate styles, traditional airbrush and digital illustration, although the two have become more and more similar with each passing technical innovation. Once a die-hard New Yorker, Peter now lives in the relative tranquility of Silverado, CA with his wife, Cybele their son, Zak, and daughter Galatea.

Cliff Nielsen studied traditional and digital illustration and graduated as valedictorian from Art Center College of Design in 1994. His illustrations have been recognized for their excellence by the Society of Illustrators, Print, and Spectrum. Feature articles focusing on his work appear in design publications and fanzine magazines alike. Cliff has been an international speaker on digital art and has served as a judge for the Society of Illustrators and a variety of professional illustration award programs. Sam Kerr approaches his work with an equal amount of thought placed on the drawing style and concept. “For me, the two are inseparable and as important as each other. To get the best out of an idea, you have to match it to the right medium.”
Although most ventures into different ways of working have come about through a basic need for variety, some were born out of necessity. In 2011, Sam Kerr spent six months bedridden as a result of back problems, so in order to keep up his drawing, learnt to work entirely on his iPhone.

With a combination of bold colours and geometry, his artwork orbits between the symbolic and the mechanical, playing with depth of field and multilayered objects. He is inspired by science, cinema and pop culture, and makes a sisyphean attempt to learn Japanese every once in a while.

Long, Chris
Chris Long’s studio overlooks the leafy green expanse that is Clapham Common. From there he watches as the world goes by: polished young professionals hurrying for the Tube, children dawdling to school, postmen, joggers, shoppers, tramps and would-be Jeeves. Boy racers, limos, bikes and bikers, hybrids, mom trucks, double decker buses and the occasional horse drawn hearse.
In time, he’ll manage to capture them all in his charming, vibrant paintings that have over the years graced the pages and packaging of many: Mattel’s My Scene, QVC, Glamour, Penguin Books, BBC Worldwide, Vogue, Perrier, Pearson and The New York Times.

Fulvimari, Jeffrey
Jeffrey Fulvimari began his illustration career in 1993, and soon he was working on prestigious jobs, including commissions for Barney’s New York and regular contributions to Interview magazine. Over the years, he has gone on to work in nearly all aspects of printed media, including advertising, sales promotion and editorial layouts. His illustrations have also been animated and broadcast on Nickelodeon, MTV and VH-1, The Food Network and numerous television commercials in Japan. Jeffrey is most recently known to a wide audience for his collaboration with Madonna, illustrating her wildly successful 13 volume set of children’s books entitled The English Roses.
In 1998 Jeffrey was invited to exhibit his work at the Parco Gallery in Tokyo, which in turn launched his Japanese career. Sergio was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he currently lives with his wife Viviana and two daughters, April and Emma. As a young child, he was obsessed with a TV series about superheroes. Sergio was so into it that he even dressed up in his superhero costume to explore his neighborhood, jumped over rooftops, and went home to write and draw about his superhero adventures. He has never stopped drawing. In 1989, he graduated from La Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredon with a degree in fine arts. Initially, he worked as an industrial designer, scenographer, and an art director for an advertising/TV firm while simultaneously developing his own short stories. When his first daughter was born in 2000, he started writing and illustrating for children. In his free time, Sergio enjoys designing and manufacturing wooden and paper toys.

Stewart-Croker, Jess
Recent illustration graduate Jess Stewart-Croker, is well on her way to carving out a path for herself. Primarily working with traditional media, such as watercolour, gouache and pen and ink, Jess creates painterly and colourful imagery. She has already grabbed a number of impressive assignments for several companies, including several private commissions. Jess can also quite frequently be found with sketchbook in hand making her way through a museum looking for inspiration in the historical references around her.
Jess’s goal in her work has always been to capture the beauty and detail of an object in a traditional and intricate manner, and it’s immediately visible in her imagery from travel to product illustrations. Rathke, Kathryn
Looking at one of Kathryn Rathke’s line-based illustrations can be a bit like working out a puzzle – was it created using one fluid and continuous line, or many? According to the Seattle-based artist she owes her drawing skills to family connections. Her grandmother taught her to draw and supplied her with books by Arthur Rackham, Maurice Sendak, and William Steig, while her father was president of an advertising agency and used to bring home reams of paper for her to practice on.
She has lots of other creative interests too. She learned to make leather masks in Italy, enjoys German experimental theatre, and sometimes throws parties where her friends must act out vignettes found in a 1912 children’s book called Entertainments for All the Year.
Kathryn did an MFA in Set Design at the University of Wisconsin but was always drawing on the side, sometimes accepting commissions from newspapers and magazines. Eventually she flipped things around and made her illustration work a full-time profession and set design became her hobby.
Kathryn does everything digitally in Photoshop and Illustrator using a Cintiq screen by Wacom.
If she’s doing portraiture work, she draws her subject many times over from different angles. This way she learns about the most important features of their face and can draw it in a way that makes it instantly recognisable.
The line is core to Kathryn’s style and her work is very fluid. Expressive and calligraphic, there’s a unique sense of gesture in her illustrations. She also uses crosshatching to develop surfaces in her images, using layers of lines of varying thickness to build up a texture.

McCollum, Sudi
Sudi McCollum grew up in a creative household with a crazy-ass artist mother and an advertising executive father (he won a Clio!). She graduated from California College of the Arts with a degree in fine arts. However, as soon as Sudi graduated, she embarked on a successful career in graphic design, which was much more to her liking. It was the graphic quality of graphic design that so appealed to her and most all of her art has a noticeable graphic quality to it. Poster commissions by her advertising clients prompted her to start an art publishing business for her own Japanese-woodblock style art prints. From there she began working as an illustrator (specializing in packaging, publishing and promotional materials) then home accessory design (dinnerware, rugs, pillows, giftware). Known for her woodcut style often incorporating decorative themes involving nature, animals, artisanal/organic foods. She likes designing it all! In 1964 Kathryn (Kathy) Hughes sat next to me (Joe Heiner) in our sixth grade classroom at Ensign Elementary school in Salt Lake City, Utah. While quietly sitting at her desk, Kathy was struck by a ruler hurled at me (I ducked) by our teacher, Mr. Anderson. We became close friends. After the eighth grade, my family moved to Montreal, P.Q. Canada. It was a long time till I saw Kathy again. Kathy's family stayed in Salt Lake City where Kathy later attended East High School. Kathy married, moved to San Francisco and had one son, Michael. After returning to Salt Lake City, Kathy graduated Cum Laude from University of Utah with a BS degree in Social Sciences. She taught nursery school for two years, became a single parent and a secretary for Architects and Planners in Salt Lake City. I attended Beaconsfield High School near Montreal, studied art and photography at Brigham Young University, and Art Center College of Design, married and had two children. I assisted commercial photographers Ed Goldstien and Carl Furuta. I also assisted David Willardson, illustrator, shooting detailed 4X5 photo reference for his airbrush illustrations. Willardson taught me airbrush techniques and helped develop an airbrush / photographic illustration style. My first portfolio of ten photo / illustrations quickly generated assignments from movie studios, advertising agencies, magazines and recording companies. With the help of the same great reps who represented Willardson, assignments came from across the country. This afforded a move back to Utah. Work went well from Utah and I became a single parent. Fifteen years after sitting by Kathy in sixth grade, she married me. We now have five children (combined) and work together in our studio in Alpine, Utah. Our studio continues to create realistic photo / illustration for clients across the country. Kathy is studio manager and stylist. I am photographer / computer illustrator. Early works were a combination of airbrush and silk screen on photographic prints. Current work is digital, a merging of digital photography and computer illustration. We have received numerous awards including The One Show Gold Award and our work is represented in the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art. Marty Baumann has worked as an artist at Pixar Animation Studios as an illustrator, graphic artist and production designer on such films as "Toy Story 3," "Cars 2," "Mater's Tall Tales," and many others. He also helped develop theme park installations, toy packaging and Pixar corporate branding.

Viviana Garofoli was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she currently lives with her husband, Sergio and two daughters, April and Emma. As a child, her favorite pastime was playing with her watercolors and crayons on big sheets of paper; if asked what she'd want to be when she grows up, Viviana would immediately reply, "a painter". In 1995, she graduated from Escuela National de Bellas Artes Pridiliano Pueyrredon with a degree in fine arts. Initially, she devoted her full attention to fine arts and successfully exhibited at numerous galleries in Buenos Aires. Subsequently, Viviana started illustrating for the editorial and textbook market and also engaged in restoration of pictorial works. But, it was not until 1995 that she decided to dedicate all her time to illustrating children's books. Over the last 15 years, she has illustrated over 20 children's book and contributed many editorial and textbook illustrations in Argentina and Puerto Rico. In her spare time, Viviana enjoys working in her garden, tending to her orchids.

Tammie initially pursued a career as a professional ballet dancer before she decided to switch gears. She attended the Columbus College of Art and Design, where she received her BFA. She began her illustration career as a staff illustrator for a major greeting card company eventually becoming the director of the juvenile product line. Ping is an illustrator grew up in Taiwan where she studied Chemistry. After working at a newspaper publisher in Taiwan as a visual designer for four years, she went on to study Illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Her work includes editorial illustration, commercial illustration, interactive illustration, animated illustration and graphic design. She loves cooking and cycling.
