After graduating from Cornwall School of Art & Design in 1982, Steve went to work for a design firm creating a variety of licensed characters, in particular those for "Roland Rat", a British television series, and for its use in various merchandise products. In 1987 he established, Primary Design, which quickly became the approved studio for the illustration and design of many well-known TV characters. After about five years, however, despite his success, he decided that the drawing board was more satisfying to him than running a company, and he returned to full-time illustration. Steve lives in Bath, England.

Tracy attended San Jose State University and graduated with a degree in graphic design with a concentration in illustration/animation. For the next decade Tracy focused on building a career in graphic and web design, but Tracy's passion for telling stories through pictures persisted. In 2010, she left her design job at a children's museum to focus on being a full-time illustrator. Tracy can now be found working from home in San Jose, CA. Her daily inspirations are her son, husband, and a hairy dog appropriately named Harry. When she's not working, you'll find Tracy reading, collecting picture books, knitting, or tinkering on her computer.

Valeria Cis was born and raised in the city of Rosario, Argentina, where she still lives with her son Facundo, her little daughter Olivia and her husband Sebastián. As a little girl, Valeria spent many hours painting and drawing especially on rainy days. She also loved to read and among her favorites were stories about animals, princes and princesses from foreign lands, and their adventures. Once she realized that she could merge her two passions, she dedicated her time and talent to illustrating children’s books. Valeria studied fine art at The University of Humanities and Arts in Rosario. Valentina was born in Cuneo, a small town near Turin, Italy. As a young child, she was always drawing and painting. She spent most of her time creating that she often missed her school bus because she did not want to leave her poor crayons and pencils at home. Growing up, she wanted to be a veterinarian, an archeologist or even an astronaut. However, she spent most of her free time drawing and taking painting classes. As a result, she finally decided to make her great passion into a career. Valentina attended 3 years at IED ( European Institute of Design) in Turin and studied juvenile illustration. Nowadays, she spends her days with her IMAC (a constant love and hate relationship) and her cute but fat cats.

Monica was born in Rosario city in Argentina but now lives in Buenos Aires with her husband, Alejandro, their 2 children, Sebastian and Lucia, and their 4 dogs! As a young girl, Monica was always drawing and creating with her crayons and paints. She went on to study visual art education at the School of Art in Buenos Aires. She started out working as a colorist for book publishers, newspapers, and magazines publications. Nowadays, she is dedicating most of her time to children’s illustration. Monica’s studio overlooks their beautiful garden filled with buzzing bees, orange blossoms, and chirping birds. Born and raised in northern Ohio, Michael graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in painting. He spent ten years as a toy designer and character developer, before trying his hand at illustration. His work has appeared on many children's products, greeting cards and magazines, and has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators. An avid collector of mid-century art and design since the 80's, Michael's vast array of influences include many modern masters such as Calder and Miro, as well as illustrators like Jim Flora, Alice and Martin Provensen, and Mary Bair. Michael lives in a spacious industrial warehouse loft in downtown Cleveland, where he enjoys painting, cooking and listening to the extensive collection of vintage soul, jazz, and Brazilian music he has acquired over the years.

Mattia was born in Cuneo, a small town surrounded by the beautiful Italian Alps. At 2-3 years old, besides eating a lot of pasta, his father (an artist in his own right!) introduced and encouraged Mattia to draw. As a result, he spent most of his time creating funny images on every surface he could find. When Mattia grew up, he decided to study illustration at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Turin. Within eight months of graduation, he landed his first Illustration job, a book titled My First Picture Dictionary for Rass Language House, Hong Kong. Mattia resides in Cuneo and when not illustrating, he enjoys playing basketball, traveling around the world, playing his bass guitar, and skiing on the Alps.

Originally a student of political science, French-Canadian artist Rémy Simard began his career as an illustrator in 1980. Working from Montreal, he creates computer-generated illustration for a large variety of clients including Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Federal Express, General Motors, Citibank, Fidelity Communications, Better Homes & Gardens, Book-of-the-Month Club, McGraw-Hill and Scott Foresman, in the U.S.; and Chrysler, Nissan, Banque Nationale de Paris, Cantel, Ville de Montreal and YTV in Canada. Alessia was born in Milan, Italy where she currently resides. She has been drawing since early childhood and realized early on that she would turn her hobby into a rewarding career as an illustrator. After graduating at the European Institute of Design in Milan, with a major in Illustration and Multimedia Animation, she decided to focus on illustrating for children. During her studies, Alessia was introduced to Corel Painter software and was immediately shocked, amazed, and captured by its unique capabilities. As a result, she decided to give up her palette and paint-brush to completely dedicate herself to the study and exploration of digital art. Nowadays, she spends most of her time with her two favorite and very close mates... her MAC and Neve, a faithful Labrador retriever.

Jerome was born in Normandy France in 1970. He spent the last ten years illustrating French comics. This past year he made a move into magazine and advertising art. Daniel Griffo was born on March 8th, 1973 in La Plata, Argentina, where he currently resides with his wife Elba, his baby boy Benjamin and his two pets Indiana and Jones. As a young child, he was always drawn towards creating and drawing images. At 10, he took his first steps into the world of illustration with the guidance of his drawing and painting instructor who taught him the basic foundations of the craft. In his teens, he became a self-taught comic illustrator and worked for both Argentinean and Italian publishers. Shortly afterwards, he worked for various studios creating licensed art, where he sharpened his skills and amassed a great deal of experience. As a freelance illustrator, Daniel has worked for many large companies including Image Comics, Warner, DC, and Disney. In his portfolio, you will find traditional and digital images, layout color, story boards, comic book art, inks, lettering, children and adult illustration, character development, and 3D models – Daniel is truly a jack-of-all-trades.

John's formal training was not in illustration, but rather theology, which he received at Cambridge University. However, he always loved drawing, and one of his early jobs was as a newspaper cartoonist. But he says that he really learned to draw when he worked at the British Museum, drawing oriental objects to scale. In his children's books illustrations, he is particularly inspired by what he calls "the gooniness" of young school children. John and his family divide their time between Brighton, England and Long Island, New York.

Gynux was born in Villefranche-sur-Saône, France and currently resides in Lyon. As a child, he had always been drawn to storytelling and illustration. Growing up, he was impressed by Rembrandt’s use of contrast in his compositions, Hirao Miyasaki’s use of detail and unique characters in his cartoons, and the color palette of Dominique Louis’s illustrations. He studied industrial engineering in college and later worked as a furniture and graphic designer. However, he came to realize that there were some boundaries which had been suppressing his creativity by solely focusing on industrial design. He craved the spontaneity that comes from being free to recreate anything from his wildest dreams and his farthest imaginations. Luckily, Gynux met some illustrators at an exhibit which brought him back into the realm of drawing and illustration. His inspiration comes from a wide range of sources – cartoons, fine arts, architecture, film and especially music. While not illustrating, he loves to travel and has visited Turkey, Austria, Spain, England, Greece, Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, and Germany. Gynux also enjoys spending his free time riding his bike through the forest and playing his piano.

Glin Dibley has been illustrating children's books, advertising campaigns, and magazines for only a few years but has become one of the most sought after talents in the business. He is as endearing a personality as the characters he creates, and has found much inspiration in his wife and two daughters, who he enjoys spending his free time with in Southern California. Mike began freelance illustration after several years as the owner of Reelworks, an animation studio specializing in commercial and entertainment films. A regular contributor to The Minneapolis Star Tribune, he has taught illustration at both the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and Rhode Island School of Design, and currently teaches part-time at the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul. His highly textured, somewhat abstracted and sometimes zany style adapts to the needs of a wide range of clients, including advertising, design, editorial and juvenile publishing. Mike is the recipient of many prestigious illustration awards, including ones from Communication Arts, Print Magazine, Studio Magazine, AIGA and the Society of Illustrators. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife and two sons.

Having started out as a music teacher in public schools, Anne shifted to illustration in 1982, finding the quiet space of her studio a much more peaceful place to work. She has had a variety of clients in both advertising (GTE, ITT, Black & Decker, Nabisco, Dunn & Bradstreet) and editorial (Ladies Home Journal), as well as having illustrated many children's books. She lives in Ohio with her husband Jack, terrier Brody and thoroughbred mare Sitka, whom she trains and rides competitively in dressage.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Philadelphia, Jannie moved to New York to study illustration at Parsons School of Design. After working as a graphic designer and an art director at many fun places such as Nickelodeon, Scholastic, and TIME Magazine for Kids, she decided that illustration was her true calling. Jannie (also known as Chicken Girl) now specializes in illustrating for the children’s market, with her work appearing in both trade and educational books, magazines, toys, crafts and digital media. She currently works and plays in Boston, MA with her husband and daughter.

Anthony lives with his wife Kathryn and three children, Isabella, Eimilia, and Rory along with two cats, Maurice and Jasper in a small village in Cheshire, in the northwest of England. Since he graduated with First Class Honours from the Liverpool School of Art in 1989, he has illustrated more than 200 children's books, as well as magazine articles, advertisements, theater posters and corporate brochures. Whilst studying Anthony was Highly Commended in the Reader's Digest Young Illustrators Competition. He has also a Smarties Gold Award for 'The Owl Tree', has twice been short-listed for the Sheffield Book Award and was nominated for the BBC's 2004 Blue Peter Book Award for 'Atticus the Storyteller's 100 Greek Myths. In his free time he enjoys the theater, traveling and watching Liverpool Football Club.

Jomike Tejido is an architect and award-winning illustrator and author who has made over 50 children’s books in his hometown in Manila. Some of which are Tagu-Taguan (Hide and Seek) (1st National Children’s book awards, Best Reads 2010), The Amazing Hat, and the Foldabots Toy Books. He has also worked with Oxford University Press, McGraw-Hill, and most recently, Scholastic. Jomike enjoys art inspired by nature and is reflective in his other venture as a painter on hand-woven mats. Apart from art, Jomike enjoys playing soccer, eating seafood, cooking and traveling to new places. Jomike lives in Manila, Philippines with his wife and baby daughter, Sophia.

During his studies in illustration at DeMontfort University in Leicester, England, Jamie was runner-up for the coveted Macmillan Prize for his work on Flap Doodle, a charming story set on an English farm. Since his graduation in 1994, he has illustrated close to 50 children’s books, a large percentage of which have been quirky, eccentric stories. He has just completed the interior illustrations for a series of Jigsaw Jones chapter books by James Preller (Scholastic USA), which he enjoyed for the chance it gave him to develop characters over a five-book run. His interests apart from illustration include soccer, music and travel. After four consecutive years of holidays in Italy, Jamie decided to live in Tuscany for several years so that he can enjoy its food, wine, climate and people on a daily basis. Currently, he is now living back in London.

Tammie initially pursued a career as a professional ballet dancer before she decided to switch gears. She attended the Columbus College of Art and Design, where she received her BFA. She began her illustration career as a staff illustrator for a major greeting card company eventually becoming the director of the juvenile product line. Having discovered that illustration was her true passion, she left to begin a freelance career in the children's market where she has illustrated numerous books, posters, magazines, cds, games, clothing, and just about anything else you can think of.

Kathi Ember lives with one man, three sheep and four cats in an old stone farm house just outside of Kutztown, PA. She has been drawing since she could hold a pencil and knew from an early age that art was her passion. After graduating with a BFA from Kutztown University in '76, she eventually figured out that she was meant to be an illustrator. Her love of animals, sense of humor, whimsy, and a penchant for storytelling all came together and in one quick moment she realized, "THIS IS IT...this is what I'm supposed to be doing". And so, she sits at her desk every day, living in a fantasy world and watching little anthropomorphic animals come to life...and...life is good.

Jennifer Zivoin is a children's book illustrator living in Carmel, Indiana. Although she has been trained in media ranging from figure drawing to virtual reality, her passion is bringing stories to life through her paintings. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with highest distinction from the honors division of Indiana University. She then began her professional career as a graphic designer, and later became a creative director at a multimedia design company. Today, she enjoys living out her dream of creating art for children's books. In addition to illustrating, Jennifer's hobbies include reading, baking, biking and ballroom dancing, especially tango!

Tom began work as senior art director for JP Morgan Chase in New York City, shortly after receiving his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1993. Two years later, he was illustrating for nationally-known publications, including Time magazine, Rolling Stone, the Wall Street Journal, Entertainment Weekly, Sports Illustrated, Business Week, TV Guide, Barron's, Forbes and Smart Money. Corporate clients have included MGM, Dupont and Colgate. Throughout his career, Reis has also worked as a fine artist, producing work with all the refinement that one would expect from a classically trained painter. His paintings are represented in numerous permanent and private collections throughout the United States. Tom currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Robbie Roth is from the historic village of Cold Spring Harbor, New York. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, he studied painting under American Master, Thomas Sgouros a direct descendent of the Brandywine School. Robbie enjoys collecting vintage finds and listening to modern jazz. His many influences include such artists as Paul Rand, Ben Shahn, Calder and Picasso. Roth has received numerous honors including awards from The Society of Illustrators, Print and Communication Arts. He has illustrated over 14 books for children and most recently was Awarded Best illustrated Children's Book of the year by The New York Times. Robbie now lives with his wife Cheryl and two daughters in an 1850's farmhouse in Cleveland Ohio.

Constanza Basaluzzo was born in Argentina in the mid 70’s where she still lives with her husband, Javier Gonzales Burgos and her little kitten, Nina Kodama. She was always drawn to the arts and at the young age of 9, Grandpa Luis (her most enthusiastic fan) decided to sponsor her first drawing and painting class. Since then, she never lost the passion for interpreting the world from a child’s point of view - with bright colors, mixed textures, and obsession for details. She graduated from the Universidad de Buenos Aires and concentrated her career on graphic communication for children. She works in digital format and since 2003, has published work in several books, stationary cards, and children’s magazines in Argentina. In her spare time, she enjoys reading (especially children’s books!), spending time outdoors with her cat, and visiting toy stores.

Ian grew up in Bogotá, Colombia and studied graphic design at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He still lives there with his wife Ana and 2 children, Avril and Ian. He is fortunate enough to work in his home studio, where he is able to share his passion of drawing and painting with his children while working on projects. He started drawing at an early age and when he was six year old, his parents enrolled him in his first painting, sculpture, and character design class. He remembers his first attempt at illustration drawing Transformers and "Condorito" (a comic character based on anthropomorphic condor from a Chilean cartoonist). He was hooked. Ian continued to study art with plastic artists. When not illustrating, he enjoys spending quality time with his children, playing soccer with his friends, watching movies and traveling. He has recently visited Argentina, Cuba, and Peru.

Based in Brighton, UK, Peter has created fresh, bright artwork for over 15 years. Being heavily influenced by a love of animation he spent a number of years working as an illustrator in children's television. His clients included 'Aardman Animations', BBC Worldwide and 'A' for Animation. Here he was greatly influenced by the art of narrative, and combined his love of drawing with the power of storytelling. His artwork is playful with an eye for color and detail, whilst evoking a subtle theatricality. When not frantically sketching in his studio he takes time for long coastal walks, exploring local history and archaeology, painting seascapes and growing vegetables.

Abby has drawn all of her life. When she was eleven, she and her grandmother had a card business: Abby drew, and her grandmother sold. In college she studied art, but also liked science and nutrition, and wished there was a way to combine it all. Several years later, after she was married and had a daughter, she and her husband founded Fresh Samantha, the juice company, which fulfilled that dream. In addition to her graphics for Fresh Samantha, she has illustrated many picture books and chapter books for children. She says that she loves to draw odd characters, and hates to draw straight lines. Abby lives with her husband and two children in Connecticut.

Macky Pamintuan was born and raised in Davao, a city in the southern Philippines. As a young child, drawing was his favorite pastime and an activity that brought him delight and satisfaction. Early on, his parents discovered that giving him paper and pencil was a sure way to keep him busy, quiet, and out of trouble. He still remembers the day when he successfully drew Mickey Mouse and Superman, a huge breakthrough and a sweet triumph. He moved to San Francisco at age 21 and in 1998 enrolled in the Academy of Art College to pursue illustration. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in December 2003. When not illustrating, Macky enjoys playing basketball, his other true passion.

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Cecilia Rebora belongs to a creative family of painters, a sculptor, and a wood carver. As long as she can remember, Cecilia could be found with a crayon in her hand. Shortly after beginning her studies in the arts, Cecilia discovered that what she enjoyed most in life was telling stories with pictures. She studied for three years at the Josep Serra I Abella School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. It was there that she truly fell in love with the profession. She has since published 18 children’s books and contributes to a popular children’s magazine called Tareas E Ilustraciones. She and her husband, Luis, have welcomed a new edition to their family named Mateo, a delightful boy who sleeps most of the time. When not illustrating, she enjoys sipping a hot cappuccino and taking in the sun on a chilly morning. Cecilia’s goals are to continue illustrating for a very long time and to always see the smile on her son’s face.
