Webb Creative

Webb Creative provides concise, graphic illustrations using an aesthetic of flat shape and color to build engaging imagery, from conceptual interpretations, to info graphics.

McCollum, Sudi

Sudi McCollum grew up in a creative household with a crazy-ass artist mother and an advertising executive father (he won a Clio!).  She graduated from California College of the Arts with a degree in fine arts.  However, as soon as Sudi graduated, she embarked on a successful career in graphic design, which was much more to her liking.  It was the graphic quality of graphic design that so appealed to her and most all of her art has a noticeable graphic quality to it. Poster commissions by  her advertising clients prompted her to start an art publishing business for her own Japanese-woodblock style art prints.  From there she began working as an illustrator (specializing in packaging, publishing and promotional materials) then home accessory design (dinnerware, rugs, pillows, giftware).  Known for her woodcut style often incorporating decorative themes involving nature, animals, artisanal/organic foods. She likes designing it all!  She has 2 cats:  Beezie and Red Teddy Long Tail, but is also a doggie person.

Prades, Simon

Simon Prades, born in 1985 into a german/spanish family is living in Saarbrücken, Germany with his wife and son.Since finishing University with a diploma in Graphic Design, he has been working as a freelance illustrator for clients in Editorial, Publishing, Sports, Advertising and Film.

Simon works in analog techniques, such as ink, pencils or watercolor but also digitally, depending on the subject. His work is often a combination of detailed and complex drawings and narrative ideas. Depending on the subject his illustrations can also be rough, spontaneous and moody. He also creates slightly animated versions of his illustrations, which can be used in digital publishing and media.

Wilson, Joe

Leicester-born Joe Wilson studied at Leeds Metropolitan University, Graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in Graphic Arts and Design in 2007. After a lifetime of drawing and doodling Joe Wilson became serious about being an artist at an early age and has left himself 'no other option'. Joe Wilson took an interest in printmaking at university and studied this heavily in his final year, with a great deal of his work taking the form of screen prints and etchings. This forms the foundation of Joe Wilson's work today, although since finishing university and leaving the print facilities, other ways of creating similar effects have had to be employed. Joe Wilson's work consists of painstakingly detailed, hand-drawn illustrations, usually in fine-line pen or pencil, that are then scanned and edited on the mac. Joe Wilson takes his influence from an array of sources including old engravings, 70s Vinyl covers and surrealist art. Joe Wilson is particularly interested in ideas of evolution, space, and complex constructions. Joe Wilson's unique drawing style attracts a mixture of different clients from editorial to fashion, he has produced work for clients such as: The Guardian, Adidas, 21st Amendment, Mojo magazine, Prospect Magazine, RKCR/Y&R, The Yards, Peter Werth, The Big Chill Festival, and Topshop. With aspirations to establish himself firmly as an illustrator, he hopes to work on many more commercial projects whilst continuing to produce his personal 'thought experiments' for his own pleasure.

The Red Dress

The Red Dress is a London based Illustration duo, Olivia Chancellor and Ollie Bland. This husband and wife team met while studying Graphic Design and Illustration at Central St. Martins in 1996. The Red Dress' love for all types of Vintage posters (especially B-Movies) and Pulp Fiction illustration has inspired Olivia and Ollie to join creative forces. Drawing upon over 10 years experience in Fashion, T.V/Film, the Art world, Illustration and Design, The Red Dress produce striking, often dark but humorous images by painting Contemporary Culture in a Retro style. This usually includes bold hand drawn typography. Using Oils and Acrylics as well as computer based painting they can work from sourced photographic images or freestyle.

Phillips, Craig

Craig phillips has been providing illustrations to the publishing and advertising industries in the United States, Australia and Europe for over a decade. He has created book jackets and interior art for Random House, Penguin, Scholastic, Simon & Schuster, Hachette Book Group, TOR Books, Wizards Of The Coast, Oxford University Press and many more. He has created tour posters for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters and provided editorial work to many publications including Rolling Stone Magazine. His work has been included in art annuals such as Spectrum 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18, Society Of Illustrators 53, Luerzers 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide, The Art Of Modern Rock, A Fistful Of Rock, Creative Quarterly 16 and 23. Work has also been exhibited at the Society of Illustrators 53 Book Illustration exhibition in New York, the 2nd Spectrum exhibition at the Museum of American Illustration, a group exhibition at the Erskine gallery in Sydney and a solo exhibition at the University of Arkansas in Florida.

Roe, Monika

After graduating with a degree in graphic design, Monika Roe worked as an art director and creative director for ad agencies in Los Angeles and Indianapolis. Now a full-time illustrator, some of Monika's clients include: Microsoft, Toyota, Mattel, Diet Coke, Pantene, Coty, Conde Nast Publications, Penguin Group, Doubleday, Random House, Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Time Inc., The Wall Street Journal, and Hallmark. Her work has been featured in STEP inside design magazine and Adweek. Monika's studio is located in the beautiful wine country of California's central coast, where she lives with her two pugs, Ladybug and Bumblebee. George, Patrick

Peter Scott's (a.k.a PatrickGeorge) skills of illustration and design are largely concept-driven, clean, punchy and witty. He enjoys working on his own children's books (A drove of bullocks, A filth of starlings, Little Miss Muffet and other rhymes, and Opposites published by PatrickGeorge), but his style works equally well in a corporate and media context. PatrickGeorge’s previous clients include Toyota, GQ, Royal Mail, Houses of Parliament, Kent tourism and The Times. He has also produced a book of names which is a playful typographical treatment of 100 boys and 100 girls names (What's in a name?)

Neil lives and works in Brighton. Friel, Helen

Since graduating in 2009 from Central Saint Martins, with a first class degree in Graphic Design, Helen Friel has been working as a freelance Paper Engineer. Helen both hand cuts and uses technology to produce her pieces. Bridging the gap between two and three dimensions is central to her design practice as well as producing pieces that involve and evoke emotion in the audience. Many of her pieces are stage sets in miniature, creating worlds with layers of card and paper. They are often influenced by an off-beat sense of humour that captions the delicate cut-outs. Her work has been featured in books Papercraft and Papercraft 2. Acadia, Leo

Conceptual graphic illustrations by way of a bold, colorful, and fun approach.... Infomen

Infomen is an information and graphic design firm jointly run by designers Aman Khanna and Carlos Coelho. Operating from their studios in New Delhi and London, Infomen has been providing a successful design service to a wide variety of international clients since January 2006. Baker, Andrew

Andrew Baker is a successful practicing illustrator, with a strong reputation in editorial illustration and poster design. He won a Gold Award for Editorial illustrator from the Association of Illustrators in 2003, and his work has been featured in the Design, New Media and Editorial sections of the AOI Images Annual and in the D&AD annual. His work is seen in most serious newspapers and magazines, from The Guardian to New Scientist, and in on-line environments, shop windows and on posters and book covers. He is primarily concerned with using images for storytelling or conveying messages. Drawing, colour, a love for ephemera and an eye for retro design inform his work. Projects are started with drawing and completed using illustrator and Photoshop in a distinctive way. Williamson, Alex

Alex Williamson was born in England in 1973 and now lives and works as an illustrator and Graphic Artist in London. Alex Williamson has a BA Graphic Design (printmaking) from Leeds Metropolitan University and an MA in Communication Design from the RCA. Alex creates original artwork using cut-out, collage and print techniques, combining found ephemera, drawing and photography. His work is concerned with experimental graphic process, fiction and narrative. Alex works on a wide range of commercial commissions and projects in the publishing, corporate, editorial and advertising sectors as well as producing and exhibiting personal experimental work. Newman, Malane

As a life-long illustrator and cartoonist, Malane Newman now mainly focuses on cartoon illustration, freelance cartooning, character design, and licensed character artwork. Contracted licensed character work includes Mattel’s Barbie – A Fashion Fairy Tale and The Toon Studio of Beverly Hills - Fairy Tale High. Her portfolio includes digital illustrations for packaging, advertising, new character development, board games and toys, and children’s books. Archer, Andrew

Andrew Archer has been an illustrator since 2006 and has worked with an enviable list of the worlds most recognizable brands and publications. Inspired by surrealism, wood block prints, edo period art, ideograms and his time spent in Asia, his work is a self asserting mix of hallucinogenic color and rhythmic line. Simard, Rémy

Originally a student of political science, French-Canadian artist Rémy Simard began his career as an illustrator in 1980. Working from Montreal, he creates computer-generated illustration for a large variety of clients including Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Federal Express, General Motors, Citibank, Fidelity Communications, Better Homes & Gardens, Book-of-the-Month Club, McGraw-Hill and Scott Foresman, in the U.S.; and Chrysler, Nissan, Banque Nationale de Paris, Cantel, Ville de Montreal and YTV in Canada. Taylor, James

Born in 1977 to an Italian mother and English father James Taylors relationship with pencil and paper started at an early age. James Taylors work is eclectic, with a range of influences from Keiichi Tanaami to Tony Hart. “Eclectic” but always considered. Morgan, Patrick

Patrick started his career as a freelance designer after gaining a Degree in Graphics and Illustration with Commendations for Print Making at Kingston University (London) in 1998. Patrick has done high profile work for global clients including: Transport of London, Cingular, Starbucks, Bacardi, Smirnoff, Coca-Cola and Waitrose, which has resulted in him having to work in Japan, Spain, Italy and the USA as well as London, and having his work appear in many more countries across USA, Europe and Asia. This work and exposure has resulted in Patrick's work being has been short-listed for and receiving commendations for a number of awards, including the Marketing Week Design Award for Corporate Design and Illustration, and the Design and Art Direction Award for Corporate Design and Illustration. (Most notably as a result of his work on the Selfridges Annual Report 2003.) He is also regularly featured in Creative review and the UK design press. On top of all of this Patrick has for the last 2 years been a university tutor, passing his skills onto the next generation of up and coming illustration graduates at the Istituto Marangoni – the prestigious Milan founded Fashion University. Patrick's most recent assignments find him as a spokesman for Hewlett Packard Arts Council and consultant for HP on the development of the HP 130 Large Format.

Ward, Mark

Mark Ward is an artist based in London. His work is derived from his obsession with Americana. Raised on a diet of Saturday morning cartoons, BMX, skateboarding, and drawing, Mark has kept true to his roots soaking up every last candy wrapper and morphing them into his surreal and comical visions. Growing up in the South London suburbs in the late 80’s, Mark was reading every possible American skateboard magazine he could get his hands on. He realized his grey London environment didn’t reflect the sunny California he was being sold in the magazines. Rolling through puddles in South London just doesn’t match up to cruising along Long Beach. Mark’s work mixes the everyday mundane with surreal elements of the 80’s American bubble, encouraging the viewer to see things differently, and peel back the gloss on the pop imagery that he worshipped in his childhood. A graduate of Central St Martins, Mark has been recognized by the Art Directors Club and received a Young Gun Award for his outstanding illustration work. He has exhibited internationally throughout Europe and America, in both solo and group shows. His work was also included in the Pop Art Design show at the Barbican. Alongside his personal work, Mark creates bold imagery for a wide range of commercial opportunities including fashion, magazine covers, editorial and large scale installations. Goudappel, Aad

He translates complex ideas and abstract themes into clear and powerful images. Aad creates illustrations that at first glance seem very simple. His distinctive style is characterized by the use of flat areas of color and the complete absence of lines. On closer look the mildly alienating images often contain multiple intellectual or emotional layers. This approach leads to works that are both timeless and contemporary.

Chivers, Sam

For several years I lead a double life. During the day I worked for a Design/Illustration studio producing work in a wide variety of styles for many different clients. Whilst in my spare time I was exploring more creative preoccupations though self-directed projects, often just enjoying a bit of creative freedom away from the pressures of the commercial world and being told what to do all the time.

Bringing together my love of drawing and geeking out on the computer, these quite often ended up as screen prints. Screen print is a process I’ve grown to love because of the restraints it imposes, I loved trying to create a sense of depth with just three or four layers. Often mistakes would be surprisingly pleasing.

After a while of incubation this work began attracting commercial clients (as I hoped it would) and eventually I made the leap to doing it full time.

My work naturally veers towards that blurry border point between science and nature. Recently I’ve become aware of how much I’m influenced by the countryside in which I live, and my tendency to fictionalise it through drawing.

My ambitions with my work are to keep making it better and continue to evolve as an artist. Presently my output mutated into a two pronged beast; I make these airbrushed sci-fi landscapes and then more hand drawn limited palette pieces – my aim is to carry on joining the dots in between these two styles somehow unifying them more.

Zivoin, Jennifer

Jennifer Zivoin is a children's book illustrator living in Carmel, Indiana. Although she has been trained in media ranging from figure drawing to virtual reality, her passion is bringing stories to life through her paintings. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with highest distinction from the honors division of Indiana University. She then began her professional career as a graphic designer, and later became a creative director at a multimedia design company. Today, she enjoys living out her dream of creating art for children's books. In addition to illustrating, Jennifer's hobbies include reading, baking, biking and ballroom dancing, especially tango!

Zingone, Robin

In a studio based in Connecticut, this native New Yorker brings a sense of wit, style and design to her art. Educated at Parsons, trained on Madison Avenue and hired by American Express, Visa, Sprint, QVC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Target, Nordstroms, Mattel, Random House, Vanity Fair, Better Homes & Gardens, Seventeen and many more for her original illustration, Robin switched gears after September 11 to develop a signature licensed brand. Her design appears on home decor, bedding, paper and fashion products globally. Longing to return to her roots, Robin is now offering her distinctive style of design, art & lettering for advertising, publishing and editorial work while continuing to design her distinctive line of products.

McDermott, Joseph

When he was a boy growing up in New Jersey, Joseph McDermott remembers drawing the panels from his comic books, and creating scenes featuring his favourite cartoon characters. Now based in Philadelphia, he’s doing the same thing as a career and has developed a Lichtenstein-esque style based almost entirely on Silver Age comics.

Before becoming a full time illustrator, he worked in an art museum for eight years. He has a Scottish terrier called Monty, a large collection of vinyl albums, and still loves his comics.

Joseph has a BA in Art History from Messiah College in Pennsylvania and has trained in drawing, painting, sculpture, screen-printing, typography and photography.

In one sense, Joseph works traditionally. He sketches and fine tunes everything first, before colouring and finishing the image. However, all of this is done digitally using the SketchBook Pro application, along with Illustrator and Photoshop.

Joseph’s vintage comic book style will certainly remind you of Lichtenstein’s approach to Pop Art, right down to the replication of ink dot patterns that reflect 20th century printing techniques. In fact, many of the brushes and halftone patterns Joseph uses in his work are of his own design.

Zafman, Randi

Randi is an illustrator and designer who creates hand painted watercolor illustrations and lettering. She earned a BA in fine art and went on to a career in graphic design, art direction and giftware design. Randi was born and raised in Los Angeles where she still lives today. Her bright colors, bold graphics and funky geometrics are inspired by mid century modern design and her California lifestyle.

Berry Rhys, Alan

Alan Berry Rhys is a graphic artist and illustrator home based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been a graphic design professor at Buenos Aires University for 8 years. As an artist, I have produced several solo shows at Buenos Aires (Argentina), Rosario (Argentina), San Francisco (CA, USA) and Santiago de Chile (Chile). In addition, Alan has participated in several combined shows, at Portland (Oregon, USA), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Tandil (Argentina) and Asunción (Paraguay). He has been invited to the last 3 editions of Puma Urban Art in Buenos Aires.
He's worked for a wide range of commercial and commissioned works for brands developing graphic universes and illustrations.
Vintage graphic advertising inspires his work. He loves the look of low-fi printing. It's errors and limitations that give his work a distinctive characteristic. Using screen-printing, risograph and painting, Alan has developed a style based on low quality printing methods of the early graphic advertising. He also has extended work on lettering and typography.
In the search of inspiration of a simpler life he explores craftsmanship lifestyles, such as fishermen, axmen, butchers, carpenters, etc. In addition, he also enjoys exploring popular street graphic.

Girasole, Alessia

Alessia was born in Milan, Italy where she currently resides. She has been drawing since early childhood and realized early on that she would turn her hobby into a rewarding career as an illustrator. After graduating at the European Institute of Design in Milan, with a major in Illustration and Multimedia Animation, she decided to focus on illustrating for children. During her studies, Alessia was introduced to Corel Painter software and was immediately shocked, amazed, and captured by its unique capabilities. As a result, she decided to give up her palette and paint-brush to completely dedicate herself to the study and exploration of digital art. Nowadays, she spends most of her time with her two favorite and very close mates... her MAC and Neve, a faithful Labrador retriever.

Gibbon, Rebecca

Illustrator, Rebecca Gibbon was born in Wales in 1968. The youngest of four children she was fed on a diet of picture books by Edward Ardizzone, Roger Duvoisin & Richard Scarry; she dreamed of being an illustrator. Her favorite book was "Frances Face-Maker" by Tome Ungerer.

Her ambition was realized after gaining a first class Honors degree from John Moors University and consequently a Masters at Royal College of Art, London. While at the RCA she was spotted at a children’s book expo in Paris by a French Agent. Since graduating she has worked all over the globe and is represented in New York by Riley Illustration

Rebecca paints in watercolor ink & cultured pencil, and bases her characters on the people she has met and seen over the years. She used to paint on newsprint until one day she looked back at some old work and it had all faded. Lesson learned she now works on acid free cartridge paper.

She lives with her husband and two boys in what was once the Old Village Stores surrounded by their eclectic collections of vintage children’s books, balloon pumps & 1950's ceramics. She loves junk shops, flea markets, drinking tea & of course drawing.

Vasilakis, Anastasia

Anastasia Vasilakis is a multi diciplined artist who combines elements of photography with incredible drawing skill to create powerful conceptual illustrations.

Among the numerous prestigious awards Anastasia has been honored with are : The Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts and The Society of Publication Designers.

She has also been honored as a guest lecturer at The International Center of Photography, The New School and School of Visual Arts in New York, as well as The International School of Paris.

Her credentials don't end with the world of print however. She's also active as a graphic designer for Film and Television and has worked with such well known production designers as Laurence Bennett and Linda Burton.

Falconer, Sam

Sam Falconer’s illustrations combining vibrant characters and intricate environments have been commissioned by clients ranging from leading national newspapers to renowned science magazines and universities.

Initially working purely by hand, Sam discovered a passion for digital collage in 2010 which later developed into his own unique brand of rich and detailed imagery. This method allows him to develop and turnover complex pieces with diverse character sets in timeframes that suit each client’s needs.

As a big science and technology fan, Sam has developed a strong presence in the field with clients including Nature, Nautilus, New Scientist, The Royal Society of Chemistry, Scientific American and Wired magazine. in 2015 Sam was commissioned by the acclaimed MIT Museum to rework their map designs for the general public.

Walter, Stephan

Stephan Walter lives and works in Zurich where he was born in 1982. Stephan started work in the graphic design world at an advertising agency. During his time at the agency he made up his mind that the only way for him to express his passion in graphic design was for him to become self-employed! Stephan studied Graphic and Media Design at the F&F School for Art and Media Design. After graduating, Stephan pursued his dream. He worked for the F&F School, Freitag AG and for some local bands from Zurich. During this time Stephan was resolving his own style and approach. He quickly developed his own picture language by learning a lot of techniques related to handling alternative design softwares. A year after graduating, Stephan flew to New York to conduct research and development work with Stefan Sagmeister. Stephan has now practiced for six years as an independent illustrator and graphic designer trading under his own brand name of radionacional. Over the last six years Stephan has worked for many clients; many of them in the cultural arena. Stephan's client list includes: David Byrne, Brian Eno, Wired Magazine, Neue Zurcher Zeitung, Columbia University, Volkswagen, die Zeit, Levis, Sagmeister Inc, Elle and many more. Strain, Peter

Peter Strain is an AOI (Association of Illustrators) Critics' Choice Award-winning illustrator based in Belfast.
He specializes in creating carefully composed, hand-rendered illustration and typography and always tries to experiment with texture and mark-making techniques to keep his work evolving.
His work is hugely influenced by film and music and aims to tackle social, political and cultural issues with a highly distinctive hand lettering style, bold imagery and humour.

Garland, Paul

Newton, Walter

Walter Newton was born in 1981 in Glasgow. He remained there for the next 21 years, attending the Glasow School of Art before being lured to the bright lights of London and the Royal College of Art. Five years later, Walter lives and works in Birmingham, drawing pictures and sporadically animating for anyone that will let him near them.

Tjader, Ella

Born in Lithuania, Ella Tjader is married to a Swede and has lived in Sweden, Scotland and England before ending up in Zurich, Switzerland. Her childhood was spent drawing and painting princesses in puffy dresses, and some of her school friends still have the pictures she gave them all those years ago.

She loves rain, walking in the woods, and reading moody Scandinavian crime novels, which she somehow finds life affirming. She’s also influenced by vintage Scandinavian illustration. Her perfect evening would include cups of tea and a film. She hates rollercoasters.

Ella studied at the Vilnius School of Economics, but later did a graphic design course via the online college Sessions.edu. That’s how she discovered Adobe Illustrator, and armed with a Wacom tablet she began building up her portfolio while studying the world of illustration, and all the magazines, fashion firms and brands she might be able to work for.

Feminine, elegant, modern, detailed, intricate, loose and light, Ella’s style is usually based around line work, though sometimes she’ll use brushes in Photoshop to drop in some vibrant colours. There are lots of organic and intertwining elements in her work to draw the viewer in. She also creates surface designs - seamless patterns and prints.

Turnbull, Tracy

After graduating, Tracy Turnbull worked in fashion design for several years and along the way began accepting illustration commissions for fashion books. Later editorial clients came knocking and it turned into a full-time thing. She combines her career in fashion illustration with teaching the subject at Northumbria University. At her home in Newcastle she has a husband, and a dog called Dave. She’s scared of fish, used to be a goth and has performed at Glastonbury.

Tracy graduated from Newcastle Polytechnic (now Northumbria University) with a BA Hons in Fashion Design.

Initial drawings are done either on paper, or on screen using her Wacom Cintiq. Tracy then colours her work digitally using Photoshop.

Just as fashion is always evolving and changing, Tracy likes to keep her work fresh and contemporary. Her style changes a lot, influenced by what’s current in illustration as well as what’s on the catwalk. When she gets bored with one style, she experiments and adapts. Lately, she’s been working in pencil and mixing it with strong colour.

She likes to draw strong characters with unusual features, and her training in fashion design certainly comes in handy when she renders garments. She understands clothing construction, proportions, and how draped fabrics look, which comes across in her work.

Jovellanos, Arielle

It’s impossible not to love the comic book style of Arielle Jovellanos. Fresh and light in tone, it’s set to take the graphic novel aesthetic into all sorts of new areas and Arielle is clearly an artist with a passion for visual storytelling.

Her big breakthrough came with her 2015 high school romance School Spirit – 60 pages of high quality artwork. The publication received an Eisner nomination, which is the pinnacle in the world of comics. Today the artist is working with a range of top names in publishing, and looking for new people to collaborate with bringing stories to life.

A Filipina-American, Arielle grew up watching Disney movies and drawing her own variations on Sailor Moon in the margins of her schoolbooks. Today, she loves musical theatre, collects playbills, and her biggest influences are the manga artist Rumiko Takahashi, the book Howl’s Moving Castle, and Studio Ghibli’s movie Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Arielle graduated from Parsons The New School for Design with a dual degree in Illustration and Fiction writing in 2014.

Most of Arielle’s work is entirely digital – she sketches, draws the lines and colours her images on her Cintiq tablet. Pinks, blues and purples form her main palette.

Everything is a character’ is a piece of advice that guides Arielle’s comic art style. It means she focuses on creating tiny narratives within each image, using body language, facial expression, clothing and background detail. This builds personality in her work and makes people viewing it wonder what will happen next.

Bradford, Tim

Living right next to a nature reserve in Nottingham, Tim Bradford also has the convenience of being just half a mile from the city centre. From alpine landscapes to geometry and animals, he’s inspired by nature and also loves drawing people of all sizes, shapes and nationalities.

Tim studied for a BA Hons in Illustration at Lincoln University and an MA in Illustration and Animation at Kingston University London.

Everything begins as a pencil sketch, which is then coloured up digitally using Photoshop and Illustrator. With his animation skills, many clients ask him to create work for both print and digital projects where motion is required. For a more physical feel to his work, Tim is increasingly introducing hand drawn elements as well.

Most of Tim’s imagery is quirky, fun and character based, and his work often incorporates custom typography along with some movement. Life, energy, charm and wit are what he strives for when he creates an illustration, and he likes to find visual solutions that are easy on the eye and keep you looking.

Day, Amber

Being able to create a world for somebody using just lines and colours – that’s what fascinates Amber Day, an LA-based illustrator who’s done stunning work for a range of fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands. “There’s no better feeling to me than being able to tell a story through an image,” she says.

Travel and taste are two of her biggest passions. “I’ve literally eaten my way through Europe, Africa, and Asia, and I love paddle boarding on The Great Lakes,” she explains.

Alongside the travelling and eating, she’s always drawing - fashion, food and beauty. Her visit to Morocco inspired her to draw Moroccan rugs for weeks, and the Red Panda at Nashville Zoo led to an obsession with the species. So far, her favourite city is Prague and she returns there two or three times a year. At home, her best friend and work partner is Kale, a rescue poodle with three legs.

Amber studied for a degree in Visual Communications from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles.

Amber’s bold line work has a natural, sketched feel to it, while the addition of watercolour gives her illustrations an organic look and her restrained use of colour sets the mood. A few years ago, she made the decision to draw products how they’d look when laid out flat and it’s proven extremely popular with clients in fashion and beauty.

When she’s creating culinary sketches, she gives them a personal perspective and includes the nuances of real life rather than aiming for perfection. “I want the viewer to feel like they are experiencing the food as if they are there. The napkin might be placed a little off, French fries might be brown from being cooked too long, and the burger could be half-eaten,” she says.

Scott, Vicky

Growing up in West London near Richmond and the Thames, Victoria Scott was always drawing and making things as a child, and knew from an early age that she wanted to be an illustrator.

Her influences come from the early 20th century, such as Art Deco and Art Nouveau, but she also enjoys a bit of 60s psychedelia.

Vicky went to the Wimbledon School of Art and Design for foundation, and then went to the University of Brighton to gain a BA in Illustration.

All of Vicky’s illustrations are created as handmade paper collages. By its very nature, Vicky’s work is highly figurative, and you’d describe it as quirky, colourful, bold, graphic and a little retro. She likes to bring a narrative element into her work as much as possible.

Armstrong, Gail

Gail Armstrong has been creating paper sculptures for over 20 years and her enthusiasm for the medium hasn’t waned one snip. She still wants every image she creates to be better than the last, and this approach has led to plenty of awards, including a Cannes Gold Lion for her Kleenex campaign. She finds inspiration in contemporary art and, not surprisingly, the huge Paperchase outlet on Tottenham Court Road in London.

Gail did her foundation course at Sheffield Polytechnic before gaining both a BA and Post Graduate Diploma in Graphic Design and Illustration at Glasgow School of Art.

Though finally rendered in pieces of paper that have been carefully cut and glued together, each image Gail creates begins as a series of drawings. As she explores the composition and various concepts, she focuses on creating something that has both style and substance to it. The result is usually a photograph of her artwork, which viewers love to see more than once, poring over the textures, colours and patterns in the final construction.
