Mantha, John

John Mantha is a Toronto-based illustrator.

His major commissions include the design of nine coins for the Royal Canadian Mint, one of which was chosen coin of the year. He has done commemorative pieces for The Ford Motor Company and the Toronto Transit Commission, as well as 34 paintings for The Church of Our lady Of Good Counsel.

Working for book publishers, advertising agencies, magazines, corporations, television and movies, his work has been seen throughout North America.

Thus far, John has illustrated twenty-four books, including the Kids book of Canada's Railway, which won The Children's Literature Roundtables of Canada 2001 Information Book Award, and was an official selection for the 2003 Red Cedar Book Awards. The Kids Book of Canadian Exploration was nominated for the 2006 Hackmatack Award for non-fiction.

He works in oils and oil-wash, and uses photoshop to enhance the finished piece. His style is realistic in nature with an emphasis on texture.

Sprouls, Kevin

Kevin Sprouls introduced the hallmark portrait style to the Wall Street Journal in 1979. Between 1979 and 1987, Kevin worked on staff for the paper, creating illustrations and training artists in the style. At the time of his departure from the daily activity of putting out the paper, he was Assistant Art Director in charge of the in-house artists, which numbered 4-5 staff artists, and 2-3 part-timers.

He has been quite active in the freelance illustration sphere since then, contributing to advertising, publishing, editorial and corporate projects. His style is notable for its high level of detail and traditional, engraving like effect.

Sprouls’ work has been featured in the Smithsonian magazine, a web exhibit of the National Portrait Gallery, and a major exhibit celebrating Columbus Day which was mounted in Grand Central Terminal, New York in 2005. He is currently the principal portrait artist for Worth Magazine. He was the portraitist for the popular Infiniti “Drivers” ad campaign, appearing weekly in the Wall Street Journal for the 2+ years.

Recent work has appeared in Fortune, Forbes, Runner’s World, GQ, Sportrs Illustrated, Time (International Edition), Euroman, and Esquire magazines. Recent book projects include the Encyclopedia of Guilty Pleasures and The Art of Demotivation. His pen is housed in the Newseum in Washington, D.C. Kevin Sprouls is married with 2 children, and lives in Coastal North Carolina.

Johnston, Ben

Canadian born, Ben Johnston is a 26-year old self-taught designer who grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. Ben started focusing on traditional graphic design, with a preference for creating typographic illustrations from scratch. His industrial design experience gives him the ability to break the confines of 2D and 3D, enabling him to bring his designs to life. With over five years' experience in the creative industry, Ben's portfolio includes a prolific selection of completed projects for renewed ad agencies and major overseas clients-being features on various creative websites. Current clients include Shell, GM, Virgin, Disney and Audi.

McCollum, Sudi

Sudi McCollum grew up in a creative household with a crazy-ass artist mother and an advertising executive father (he won a Clio!).  She graduated from California College of the Arts with a degree in fine arts.  However, as soon as Sudi graduated, she embarked on a successful career in graphic design, which was much more to her liking.  It was the graphic quality of graphic design that so appealed to her and most all of her art has a noticeable graphic quality to it. Poster commissions by  her advertising clients prompted her to start an art publishing business for her own Japanese-woodblock style art prints.  From there she began working as an illustrator (specializing in packaging, publishing and promotional materials) then home accessory design (dinnerware, rugs, pillows, giftware).  Known for her woodcut style often incorporating decorative themes involving nature, animals, artisanal/organic foods. She likes designing it all!  She has 2 cats:  Beezie and Red Teddy Long Tail, but is also a doggie person.

Collignon, Veronica

“I see life in colour,” declares fashion illustrator Veronica Collignon, and looking at her portfolio full of light, colourful imagery, it’s hard to argue. But she takes her obsession with colour even further in her everyday life. For instance, she has a collection of nail polish bottles that she’s never used. “I always end up buying them because I am drawn by the colours! I even remember names and numbers by a form of colour-coding in my mind,” she says.

That quirky sense of fun carries over into her artwork, but it’s underlined by great talent, professionalism and a fantastic technique. Growing up in Mexico, from a young age she was inspired by drawing and creativity, and her favourite illustrators include David Downton, Garance Doré and Izak Zenou. She worked alongside the latter for two years.

She later moved from her home city of Guadalajara to Paris, and then to Madrid, to study. Eventually, she ended up in New York where she now has a range of clients in fashion, retail, advertising, cosmetics and more.

New York’s cosmopolitan mix is the perfect thing to inspire her. She loves to people watch, and enjoys exploring other cultures, with Moroccan and Japanese at the top of her list at the moment.

Veronica studied on the Fashion Studies programme at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid, and later gained certificates in Fashion and Fine Art from Parsons The New School.

Projects begin with Veronica learning about her client and the audience they want to reach. Research is key, before she plays with different looks and ideas, and then settles on the best composition. After the sketching comes her favourite part – adding the colour.

Whimsical, colourful and fun are words commonly used to describe Veronica’s style. Her work has the feel of classic fashion illustration about it, with striking graphical forms, a gestural style, and lovely brushwork and inking.

Archer, Andrew

Andrew Archer has been an illustrator since 2006 and has worked with an enviable list of the worlds most recognizable brands and publications. Inspired by surrealism, wood block prints, edo period art, ideograms and his time spent in Asia, his work is a self asserting mix of hallucinogenic color and rhythmic line. Best suited to briefs that allow him to indulge his imagination and unique color palette, clients who offer some creative freedom are gifted with extraordinary and distinctive visuals that always gain attention. Google image search ‘Everything Everything Gone to Heaven” for a perfect example of the power of Archer’s imagery to become an internet sensation, it is no wonder he is a popular choice with music and sports brands wanting to captivate their audience.

Scott, Si

Since its inception in 2006 by Si Scott, its original founder and Creative Director, Si Scott Studio Ltd. has established an internationally recognized reputation for providing unique creative concepts and imagery for a prestigious and ever-growing client list.

Beylinson, Yana

Yana Beylinson is a New York City-based artist, illustrator and designer. Widely known for her organic, natural and completely unique style, Yana has worked with a variety of clients in fashion, book and magazine publishing, textile design, and corporate world. Erwin is a freelance illustrator based in Golden Colorado. Andre Junget Traditional Illustration

A self taught illustrator and perspectivist, Mr. Junget began his career illustrating architecture in 1991. Trained as a tool and die maker, he worked for over twenty years in the space and aircraft industries. After company downsizing, he set out to build a new career in illustration.

In 2004 Mr. Junget was invited to teach Perspective at the Institute for the Study of Classical Architecture. That year also found him closing the doors to his studio and beginning a career as Illustrator in Residence at the prestigious classical architecture firm of Ferguson and Shamamian.

In 2006, Mr. Junget moved to the firm of Hart Howerton Planners and Architects also as Illustrator in Residence.

In 2007, with the support and sponsorship of the venerable pen and ink illustrator Murray Tinkelman, Mr. Junget was elected to the Society of Illustrators, a life long dream.

March of 2009 saw Mr. Junget once again opening the doors of his freelance studio as Andre Junget Traditional Illustration.
