Hofflund, Sylvia

In Sylvia's years of experience as a freelance illustrator she has cultivated a style that clients call upon to convey a sense of beauty and place. When an art director is looking for painterly representation, her style is very effective. All projects start with pencil drawings and finish with an original watercolor painting.

Spurll, Barbara

Barbara Spurll’s family immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada from London, England, when she was three-and-a half. She always loved to draw, so her mom signed her up for Saturday morning art classes in grade one. Her interest never waned and at sixteen, she signed herself up for life drawing classes where she learned contour line drawing. A few years later, she moved east to Toronto to study fine art at the Artist’s Workshop and the New School of Art. She went on to study design and illustration at George Brown College, where she would later teach illustration part time. Barbara’s professional career began as a freelance illustrator with Jim Harrison, art director at the Toronto Star which led to regular assignments with a variety of newspapers and magazines. It was children’s publisher and designer Kathryn Cole who saw her work and approached her about illustrating “Rhinos for Lunch and Elephants for Supper!”, a re-telling of an African folk tale about a group of animals intimidated by a posturing cave monster. Barbara's most recent work consists of portraits in watercolor.

Berke, Lauren Simkin

Lauren Simkin Berke is a Brooklyn based artist and illustrator whose work can be seen in galleries, on book covers, and in publications such as The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and the L.A. Times. With drawn lines that overlay swaths of color, Lauren's work explores instinctive color play combined with drawn images that study human gesture and how people document their lives in photographs. Lauren illustration work has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, Print Magazine, and American Illustration.

Paraskevas, Michael

Michael Paraskevas, a well known illustrator among magazine art directors, has had his work featured in such prestigious publications as Sports Illustrated, Time, Town & Country and Esquire and has earned numerous awards from industry professionals. Michael has exhibited at Giraffics Gallery in East Hampton (6 one-man shows) and recently showed at the prestigious Southampton Gallery owned by Peter Marcelle. Along with his mother Betty, he published many children’s books over the past 12 years. Their work includes the much loved Tangerine Bear, which was produced as a Christmas Special for ABC in 2000. Other popular works by the pair include Junior Kroll, A Very Kroll Christmas, Shamlanders, The Ferocious Beast, Cecil Bunions, and Chocolate at the Four Seasons. The mother-and-son team’s most well-known project, called Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, was developed for Nick Jr. and is still running on Noggin. It won the prized Gemini Award for best animated show of 2001 in Canada. Paraskevas was educated at School of Visual Arts in New York where he also received his Master’s Degree in Visual Journalism. He divides his time between his home in SouthHampton and LA.

Bray, Ed

Ed Bray is an illustration graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduation, he began his illustration career in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he worked for a company on pen and ink and marker layouts. In addition to his commercial assignments, he focused on watercolor landscapes of the Midwest, which were exhibited at the Fuller Museum in Massachusetts. Examples of his illustrations appear in Drawing: Structure and Vision by Fritz Drury and Joanne Stryker © 2008.

Ed is skilled in presentation artwork, such as storyboards and comps, as well as finished illustrations and fine art. His work is featured in American Showcase #23 and the Directory of Illustration website www.behance.net/edBray & www.directoryofillustration.com/edbray.

Ed lives and works as a freelancer in Brockton, Massachusetts and is a member of the Arts League of Lowell. He was featured in a November edition of The Lowell Sun.

Ed is able to work quickly to meet tight deadlines and is available at any time for an assignment.

Collignon, Veronica

“I see life in colour,” declares fashion illustrator Veronica Collignon, and looking at her portfolio full of light, colourful imagery, it’s hard to argue. But she takes her obsession with colour even further in her everyday life. For instance, she has a collection of nail polish bottles that she’s never used. “I always end up buying them because I am drawn by the colours! I even remember names and numbers by a form of colour-coding in my mind,” she says.

That quirky sense of fun carries over into her artwork, but it’s underlined by great talent, professionalism and a fantastic technique. Growing up in Mexico, from a young age she was inspired by drawing and creativity, and her favourite illustrators include David Downton, Garance Doré and Izak Zenou. She worked alongside the latter for two years.

She later moved from her home city of Guadalajara to Paris, and then to Madrid, to study. Eventually, she ended up in New York where she now has a range of clients in fashion, retail, advertising, cosmetics and more.

New York’s cosmopolitan mix is the perfect thing to inspire her. She loves to people watch, and enjoys exploring other cultures, with Moroccan and Japanese at the top of her list at the moment.

Veronica studied on the Fashion Studies programme at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid, and later gained certificates in Fashion and Fine Art from Parsons The New School.

Projects begin with Veronica learning about her client and the audience they want to reach. Research is key, before she plays with different looks and ideas, and then settles on the best composition. After the sketching comes her favourite part – adding the colour.

Whimsical, colourful and fun are words commonly used to describe Veronica’s style. Her work has the feel of classic fashion illustration about it, with striking graphical forms, a gestural style, and lovely brushwork and inking.

Zafman, Randi

Randi is an illustrator and designer who creates hand painted watercolor illustrations and lettering. She earned a BA in fine art and went on to a career in graphic design, art direction and giftware design. Randi was born and raised in Los Angeles where she still lives today. Her bright colors, bold graphics and funky geometrics are inspired by mid century modern design and her California lifestyle.

Napier, Martha

When Martha Napier took the leap and became a full-time freelance illustrator in 2013, the world of fashion design lost a wonderful creator, but the world of illustration gained an excellent artist. Martha’s vivid watercolours and loose, almost naïve style, have given a lighthearted lift to all kinds of interesting projects in fashion, advertising, editorial and more. She also does live painting for clients, and was named a top illustrator to watch on Instragram by InStyle magazine.

Martha was born in the Midwest, grew up in Germany, and today splits her time between Chicago and New York. She loves fashion – that much is clear – and her most admired designers include Miuccia Prada, Marni, and Phoebe Philo. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Henri Matisse and Cy Twombly are three artists that inspire her.

Beyond art and fashion, she’s had a fascinating life. She’s travelled to the North Pole, and to the Galapagos Islands. “The only place I’ve seen a cactus, a flamingo and a penguin in the same location,” she says.

Martha has a BA in Studio Art from Wake Forest University, and was a Presidential Scholar at the same college in Fine Art. She discovered her love of fashion illustration at the Parsons School of Design, where she studied for a post grad degree in Fashion Design.

Watercolours are Martha’s main media, but she also uses markers, pencils and acrylics. She scans the work into Photoshop and uses the application to clean it up and colour correct it before delivering it to her clients.

Martha is very much a gestural painter, with a very fine skill in getting paints to flow from her brush and soak beautifully into the paper, and to mix with one another. Seen up close, it’s a gorgeous effect. Her work is vibrant and vivid as you can see, and full of joy and whimsy.

Sloan, Michael

Michael Sloan creates illustrations for editorial, corporate, advertising, institutional, and publishing clients. His work has been awarded three silver medals from The Society of Illustrators in NYC. His illustrations first appeared in The New York Times Op-Ed page, and have been published in the New York Times Letters column over 100 times. He has shown his work in both solo and group exhibits in the USA and Hong Kong, and has lectured about his artwork at institutions such as The University of Connecticut, The Rhode Island School of Design, Hong Kong University, The Fashion Institute of Technology, and The Yale-China Association.

Stankiewicz, Steven

Steven was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He received a bachelors's degree in sociology from the University of Connecticut in 1979, and an BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 1982.
He became a full-time Illustrator working exclusively on the Mac in 1992 producing infographics, technical, architectural and scientific illustrations for publishing and advertising clients. In the late 90s Steven added watercolor-based maps to his repertoire, which he paints traditionally, scans, and finishes in Photoshop.
In addition to illustration Steven is an active intaglio printmaker, and focuses on making artists' books. He moved to Massachusetts' Pioneer Valley from New York City in 2010.

Williams, Dan

I am a graduate of the Royal College of Art and am currently living in London renovating a large old Victorian house and building a magnificent studio. My time is divided between illustration, painting on location and lecturing. For me all 3 disciplines feed each other, keeping me on my toes and keen to explore new uses for my work. Travel is a very important ingredient in all of this and a strong element within much of my work. The last few years I have been traveling in South Eastern Asia, Northern Africa and Europe. I love the insight, excitement and energy of geography and people

Andre Junget Traditional Illustration

A self taught illustrator and perspectivist, Mr. Junget began his career illustrating architecture in 1991. Trained as a tool and die maker, he worked for over twenty years in the space and aircraft industries. After company downsizing, he set out to build a new career in illustration.

In 2004 Mr. Junget was invited to teach Perspective at the Institute for the Study of Classical Architecture. That year also found him closing the doors to his studio and beginning a career as Illustrator in Residence at the prestigious classical architecture firm of Ferguson and Shamamian.

In 2006, Mr. Junget moved to the firm of Hart Howerton Planners and Architects also as Illustrator in Residence.

In 2007, with the support and sponsorship of the venerable pen and ink illustrator Murray Tinkelman, Mr. Junget was elected to the Society of Illustrators, a life long dream.

March of 2009 saw Mr. Junget once again opening the doors of his freelance studio as Andre Junget Traditional Illustration.
