Belloni, Valentina

Valentina was born in Cuneo, a small town near Turin, Italy. As a young child, she was always drawing and painting. She spent most of her time creating that she often missed her school bus because she did not want to leave her poor crayons and pencils at home. Growing up, she wanted to be a veterinarian, an archeologist or even an astronaut. However, she spent most of her free time drawing and taking painting classes. As a result, she finally decided to make her great passion into a career. Valentina attended 3 years at IED ( European Institute of Design) in Turin and studied juvenile illustration. Nowadays, she spends her days with her IMAC (a constant love and hate relationship) and her cute but fat cats.

Manley, Matt

Currently based in Marshall, Michigan, Matt Manley has been working as a freelance illustrator for over twenty years. His illustration is primarily figurative and symbolic with surrealist leanings, and past client work includes editorial, corporate, medical, book, and higher education. Though in the end his work is technically digital collage, the process integrates both traditional and digital media. Collage elements are original oil paintings and drawings, with occasional scanned found objects and photos added to the mix, all united in Photoshop.

Nicole Alesi is an illustrator and designer based in New York City. Her whimsical and retro-inspired illustrations have been featured on book covers, magazine publications, and greeting cards. Wagt, Robert

Dutch-born painter and illustrator Robert Wagt has worked in Berlin, Milan and Paris, and is currently in the USA working from Nyack, New York. Robert and his wife, also an accomplished artist, have one daughter. As an illustration artist, Robert Wagt is widely acknowledged for his creativity and unique style, and has enjoyed an international reputation for almost 20 years. Marie Claire and Vanity Fair were among the first international magazines that sparked his career during his first Paris stint in 1987-1988, after he emerged from his art studies. In Milan from 1988 to 1994, he became a regular contributor to Vogue, Uomo Vogue and Vanity of the Condé Nast Media Group, among other magazines. He returned to Paris in 1994, where his client list grew to include industry giants such as Canon, Longchamp, Coca Cola, DHL, Ford, Ebay and Macy’s, working with world’s premier advertising agencies, such as : Publicis, J. Walter Thompson, Young & Rubicam and McCann Erickson. His work is featured in numerous art books and magazine interviews. Kest, Kristin

Since beginning her professional career in 1992, Kristin Kest has illustrated more than thirty books on the subject of natural science and has regularly had her paintings selected by the Society of Illustrators for exhibit in their prestigious annual shows. Kest currently teaches illustration at York College of Pennsylvania and stresses to her students the importance of storytelling abilities as the key to effective visual communication. Salerno, Steven

NYC based illustrator Steven Salerno creates stylized illustrations ranging from graphically simple and whimsical, to more realistic and richly textured imagery with some also having a retro feel. All are anchored in traditional drawing skills reflective of his admiration for select artists and illustrators from past eras.

Over his long independent graphics career Steven has created thousands of published illustrations for nearly 600 clients, for use in print & web advertising, editorial magazines and newspapers, product packaging, corporate publications, retail graphics, and publishing.

To date Steven has also illustrated 36 popular picture books for children, with 5 of these titles as both author and illustrator. UPDATE: Steven has illustrated the upcoming wonderful nonfiction picture book, "On the Corner of Chocolate Avenue -How Milton Hershey Brought Milk Chocolate To America" -written by Tziporah Cohen & illustrated by Steven Salerno, to be released by Clarion Books/Harper Collins in December 2022. It’s the life story of American Milton Hershey, the poor kid from Pennsylvania who built his company, HERSHEY’S, into one of the largest manufacturers of chocolate in the world. "On the Corner of Chocolate Avenue" is a Junior Library Guild GOLD STANDARD Selection for 2022.

Some of Steven's picture books have been translated into Chinese, German, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, and Spanish. His picture books have received industry starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, School Library Journal, Children's Literature, The New York Times Review of Books, and have been displayed by the Society of Illustrators (NYC) in their annual children's picture book art exhibition, The Original Art. Steven's illustrations have been recognized for excellence by Communication Arts, Print, Society for News Design, Society of Publication Designers, The Art Director's Club, Society of Illustrators, and the Junior Library Guild.

Originally from Vermont, Steven was an honors graduate of the Illustration Department at Parsons School of Design in New York City, where he studied art history, printmaking, animation, and illustration under top industry professionals including famed author/illustrator Maurice Sendak, of the ground breaking picture book "Where the Wild Things Are." Steven is primarily engaged with illustrating and writing picture books for kids, but also still creates illustrations for clients in advertising, magazines, newspapers, corporate publications, and product packaging.

I am a chilean Freelance Illustrator. My professional work experience is about 18 years in the areas of Illustration, Concept Design, Background Painting, Texturing, Art Direction and some knowledge of 3D Modeling and Animation. I have worked for companies in the areas of Graphic Design, Advertising, Editorial, Animation, Post-Production and Videogames. I have to say that I am good at designing or creating environments and props from scratch, painting with a strong sense of color, and creating dramatic light/ambience in a background. Also, I always have a great time drawing and painting caricatures of famous people and some portraits too. In these days I´m searching for new professional challenges... LeBarre, Erika

Erika LeBarre has always been exposed to art one way or another as she grew up. Her father worked as a car designer for the big three, and her mother was a ceramicist. Erika’s parents always encouraged her creative side. Drawing was her favorite thing to do. Erika graduated from the College for Creative studies with a BFA in illustration. Initially she worked at an art studio with other illustrators and designers for several years. Since then she has worked on her own for a wide variety of clients and projects such as product/packaging labels, posters, point of purchase, signage, direct mail, magazine ads, editorial, greeting cards, grade school textbooks, eBooks, websites, textiles, logos and even character development. Erika’s working techniques are both traditional and digital including pastels, acrylics, Photoshop, and vector-based illustrations using Illustrator. She creates illustrations using textures, smooth gradations, and rich color that can create a look that is anywhere from stylized, whimsical, editorial, conceptual and graphic line/flat color to somewhat realistic with a twist of fantasy.

O'Kif, Alejandro

Alejandro Okif lives in Buenos Aires with his creative family, his wife Monica (illustrator), son Sebastian (musician) and daughter, Simona (illustrator and tattoo artist). As a young boy, his father who worked in advertising introduced him to the arts. As a result, he was totally hooked and started drawing immediately. When he was at Facultad de Humanidades y Artes de Rosario, he was drawn to Egon Schiele, Rembrandt, Goya, and Lautrec. As he started working in publishing, he discovered the talented work of some amazing illustrators such as Andre Francois, Quentin Blake, Ronald Searle, and Tomi Ungerer. Alejandro works with different mediums, from acrylics, watercolors, inks, and Photoshop. When not illustrating, he enjoys watching movies, going to concerts, and playing bass guitar with his son Sebastian(though he claims that he is not a good musician).

Robert Crawford graduated with a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Robert Crawford was chosen by the German car maker, Volkswagen, to do six paintings for a book which celebrated Volkswagen's 50th anniversary. Robert's work has won numerous awards from the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, Graphis and Print. His paintings have been included in group shows in New York, Japan and Germany and he participated in the United Nation's sponsored show on the environment in New York City. That painting was featured on CBS's Sunday morning with Charles Osgood. Robert Crawford's work has been selected for permanent collection by the United States government and major corporations such as British Petroleum. Robertson, Michael

Born and raised in northern Ohio, Michael graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in painting. He spent ten years as a toy designer and character developer, before trying his hand at illustration. His work has appeared on many children's products, greeting cards and magazines, and has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators. An avid collector of mid-century art and design since the 80's, Michael's vast array of influences include many modern masters such as Calder and Miro, as well as illustrators like Jim Flora, Alice and Martin Provensen, and Mary Bair. Michael lives in a spacious industrial warehouse loft in downtown Cleveland, where he enjoys painting, cooking and listening to the extensive collection of vintage soul, jazz, and Brazilian music he has acquired over the years.

Crawford, Susan

After giving marine biology a try in college, Susan decided to fall back on a more stable and lucrative profession: illustration. With her artist/writer husband Allen Crawford, she formed Plankton Art Company in 1999. Susan's stylized, graceful forms are largely inspired by nature and mid-century modernism. She has worked for Target, Warner Bros., Chronicle Books, Knopf, Ride Snowboards, Hasbro, National Geographic Kids Magazine, Discovery Channel and The Smithsonian National Zoo. The most ambitious project she's ever worked on was a series of 400 hand-rendered identification key illustrations of fish, plants and other undersea creatures for The American Museum of Natural History's Milstein Hall of Ocean Life, where her drawings are on permanent display. Susan's paintings and drawings have been exhibited at numerous galleries, most notably Jonathan LeVine Gallery in Chelsea. She lives in a historic Quaker town in Central New Jersey, where she often goes on kayak trips in the Pine Barrens to look for tree frogs and orchids.

Leopold, Susan

Susan Leopold is an internationally known illustrator Susan Leopold is an award winning mixed media illustrator born in the Motor City and now living in the Big Smoke (what Canadians call Toronto). Leopold has won numerous gold, silver and bronze awards from groups such as Dimensional Illustrators, Society of Illustrators New York, Society of Illustrators Los Angeles, Communication Arts, Society of Publication Designers, Print and Art Direction. Leopold received a BFA in Fine Art from the University of Michigan and an MA in Medical Illustration from University of California. Frazier, Jim

After he earned a BFA in Advertising Design from North Texas State University in 1980, Jim Frazier established himself as a print and broadcast art director at various Dallas advertising agencies. By 1990, agency work could no longer contain his diverse creative urges, so he went into business for himself. The result has been a growing recognition for the stylish conceptual images he has created for a wide range of corporate, financial, and editorial clients.

Pamintuan, Macky

Macky Pamintuan was born and raised in Davao, a city in the southern Philippines. As a young child, drawing was his favorite pastime and an activity that brought him delight and satisfaction. Early on, his parents discovered that giving him paper and pencil was a sure way to keep him busy, quiet, and out of trouble. He still remembers the day when he successfully drew Mickey Mouse and Superman, a huge breakthrough and a sweet triumph. He moved to San Francisco at age 21 and in 1998 enrolled in the Academy of Art College to pursue illustration. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in December 2003. When not illustrating, Macky enjoys playing basketball, his other true passion.

Hyman, Miles

Artist, author and illustrator, Miles Hyman's creates images for advertising, packaging, books, magazines, galleries and museums throughout Europe and the United States. A native Vermonter, he studied literature and fine art at the Buxton School, then at Wesleyan University. He moved to Paris in 1985 and studied drawing at the Paris Ecole des Beaux-Arts. His first illustrated books and graphic novels began appearing in 1987 with French publisher Futuropolis. His work has since been appeared, on both sides of the Atlantic with Libération, Le Monde, Télérama, XXI, Muze, Marianne, Gallimard, Baleine, Actes Sud, Denoël, Casterman, FSG, Knopf, Viking, Chronicle Books, the New York Times, The Boston Globe and The New Yorker Magazine to name a few. His work is exhibited regularly in European and North American galleries, including solo and group shows in Paris, Geneva, Brussels, Barcelona, Beverly Hills and New York City. Most recent exhibits include major shows in Paris at the Galerie Barbier & Mathon, in Brussels at the Galerie Champaka.

Bishop, Tracy Nishimura

Tracy attended San Jose State University and graduated with a degree in graphic design with a concentration in illustration/animation. For the next decade Tracy focused on building a career in graphic and web design, but Tracy's passion for telling stories through pictures persisted. In 2010, she left her design job at a children's museum to focus on being a full-time illustrator. Tracy can now be found working from home in San Jose, CA. Her daily inspirations are her son, husband, and a hairy dog appropriately named Harry. When she's not working, you'll find Tracy reading, collecting picture books, knitting, or tinkering on her computer.

Strain, Peter

Peter Strain is an AOI (Association of Illustrators) Critics' Choice Award-winning illustrator based in Belfast.
He specializes in creating carefully composed, hand-rendered illustration and typography and always tries to experiment with texture and mark-making techniques to keep his work evolving.
His work is hugely influenced by film and music and aims to tackle social, political and cultural issues with a highly distinctive hand lettering style, bold imagery and humour.
Clients & Projects include: Land of Giants, Empire, Esquire, Queens Film Theatre, The Ulster Hall, Unilever, Work Style Magazine, Jameson and The University of Ulster.

Reisch, Jesse

Jesse is known for her stylized illustrations, embellished with color and whimsy. Her clients range from advertising, children's books, corporate, to editorial.

Garland, Paul

Paul Garland was born in Somerset, England. Studied at Somerset College of Arts & Technology, Epsom School of Art and Plymouth University and currently works from his studio in the North of England.

The images begin life with confident pencil drawings. These are then combined with handmade textures, painting, and printmaking to complete, vibrant digital imagery which allows for the works to be commissioned from and to anywhere in the world. His works often use metaphors to convey the brief in as simple and effective a way as possible.

His work has been recognised by the Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, 3x3, Luerzers Archive, Society of Illustrators of LA, the Association of Illustrators and the World Illustration Awards amongst others.
