Bowman, Eric

Eric Bowman was born and raised in Southern California where he began drawing as a child, encouraged by his father who oil painted as a hobby. Being immersed in the pop culture of the time, it was only natural for him to become an illustrator -- airbrushing surfboards and drawing comic books straight out of high school. An Honors graduate of the Illustration School of Hard Knocks, Eric has created work for such clients as Time-Life Entertainment, Nike, Nabisco, Kellogg’s, Hallmark, Coppertone and GTE to name just a few. His original oils can also be found on the covers of numerous books, music CD’s and popular periodicals, including The Saturday Evening Post and two recent covers of TIME magazine. His original oil paintings reside in many private and corporate collections including the offices of Major League Baseball and the NBA. Eric's illustrations have also been featured in many juried shows & publications winning numerous awards, including Gold medals from the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, the Dallas Society of Illustrators and Gold & Silver awards from the Spectrum annuals. Eric lives with his family in the Pacific Northwest.

Steele, Robert Gantt

Robert Gantt Steele loves illustrating the relationship between natural and man made subjects. His paintings of architecture, for example, are made richer by his inclusion of painterly human and natural forms. The human subjects he paints, on the other hand, inhabit a convincingly detailed back ground. Robert enjoys the research needed to accurately capture the detail as well as the mood and atmosphere of his subjects. Recent projects include a commission by Smithsonian Magazine to illustrate the human character and the atmosphere of a particular small town in France. Robert studies music and is a performer in local San Francisco productions. This helped him create illustrations used for the promotion of Broadway shows such as “Showboat.” He completes several book covers and children’s books as well as many other com- missions each year. Constant studies and sketchbooks fill his free time. Robert was originally trained as an architect in North Carolina and at Berkeley. He completed further study in art in Austria as a Fulbright scholar and then in New York and San Francisco. He recently designed and constructed a new home for his family near San Francisco and is very active in the preservation of historic art and architecture. He loves his work. He and his wife Alice have two children. robertgsteele.com
