The fourth girl in a family of 8 children, Colleen Madden made it through childhood pretending to be a space princess with a wookie sidekick and drawing in her cardboard box art studio. Colleen spent some time acting and training at The Second City in Chicago, then went on to graduate from a small liberal arts school in Massachusetts, with a contract major in illustration and English literature. She is currently residing in the Philadelphia area, with her writer-husband, and their 2 sons. She has illustrated for many different kinds of clients and is the recipient of an International Greeting Card Louie Award. When not illustrating, Colleen can be found long distance running, making her boys giggle, and eating lots and lots of sushi.

Daniel Griffo was born on March 8th, 1973 in La Plata, Argentina, where he currently resides with his wife Elba, his baby boy Benjamin and his two pets Indiana and Jones. As a young child, he was always drawn towards creating and drawing images. At 10, he took his first steps into the world of illustration with the guidance of his drawing and painting instructor who taught him the basic foundations of the craft. In his teens, he became a self-taught comic illustrator and worked for both Argentinean and Italian publishers. Shortly afterwards, he worked for various studios creating licensed art, where he sharpened his skills and amassed a great deal of experience. As a freelance illustrator, Daniel has worked for many large companies including Image Comics, Warner, DC, and Disney. In his portfolio, you will find traditional and digital images, layout color, story boards, comic book art, inks, lettering, children and adult illustration, character development, and 3D models – Daniel is truly a jack-of-all-trades.

Anthony lives with his wife Kathryn and three children, Isabella, Eimilia, and Rory along with two cats, Maurice and Jasper in a small village in Cheshire, in the northwest of England. Since he graduated with First Class Honours from the Liverpool School of Art in 1989, he has illustrated more than 200 children's books, as well as magazine articles, advertisements, theater posters and corporate brochures. Whilst studying Anthony was Highly Commended in the Reader's Digest Young Illustrators Competition. He has also a Smarties Gold Award for 'The Owl Tree', has twice been short-listed for the Sheffield Book Award and was nominated for the BBC's 2004 Blue Peter Book Award for 'Atticus the Storyteller's 100 Greek Myths. In his free time he enjoys the theater, traveling and watching Liverpool Football Club.

Scott McBee is a New York based artist and designer. He received his BA in graphic design and illustration from San Diego State University. In 1989 Mcbee launched a successful career in commercial illustration, designing for such major firms as Young & Rubicam, BBDO and Ogilvy. In addition to his commercial work, which includes advertisement, story board production, and children's book illustration (see Amazon.com), Mcbee has developed several personal projects including a series of large-scale nautical paintings. Suzanne Beaky grew up in Gahanna, Ohio, and studied illustration at Columbus College of Art and Design. Arts Council Emerging Artist Award and the Ellen Dolan Memorial Mentorship Award from the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators-Missouri. Kathi Ember lives with one man, three sheep and four cats in an old stone farm house just outside of Kutztown, PA. She has been drawing since she could hold a pencil and knew from an early age that art was her passion. After graduating with a BFA from Kutztown University in '76, she eventually figured out that she was meant to be an illustrator. Her love of animals, sense of humor, whimsy, and a penchant for storytelling all came together and in one quick moment she realized, "THIS IS IT...this is what I'm supposed to be doing". And so, she sits at her desk every day, living in a fantasy world and watching little anthropomorphic animals come to life...and...life is good.

Originally a student of political science, French-Canadian artist Rémy Simard began his career as an illustrator in 1980. During his studies in illustration at DeMontfort University in Leicester, England, Jamie was runner-up for the coveted Macmillan Prize for his work on Flap Doodle, a charming story set on an English farm. Since his graduation in 1994, he has illustrated close to 50 children’s books, a large percentage of which have been quirky, eccentric stories. He has just completed the interior illustrations for a series of Jigsaw Jones chapter books by James Preller (Scholastic USA), which he enjoyed for the chance it gave him to develop characters over a five-book run. His interests apart from illustration include soccer, music and travel. After four consecutive years of holidays in Italy, Jamie decided to live in Tuscany for several years so that he can enjoy its food, wine, climate and people on a daily basis. Currently, he is now living back in London.

Mattia was born in Cuneo, a small town surrounded by the beautiful Italian Alps. At 2-3 years old, besides eating a lot of pasta, his father (an artist in his own right!) introduced and encouraged Mattia to draw. As a result, he spent most of his time creating funny images on every surface he could find. When Mattia grew up, he decided to study illustration at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Turin. Within eight months of graduation, he landed his first Illustration job, a book titled My First Picture Dictionary for Rass Language House, Hong Kong. Mattia resides in Cuneo and when not illustrating, he enjoys playing basketball, traveling around the world, playing his bass guitar, and skiing on the Alps.

Traditional mediums such as watercolor, pen and ink and color pencil are enhanced with the help of the computer, but the technical will never overshadow the feeling of hand to paper and the joyful imperfections represented there.

John's formal training was not in illustration, but rather theology, which he received at Cambridge University. However, he always loved drawing, and one of his early jobs was as a newspaper cartoonist. But he says that he really learned to draw when he worked at the British Museum, drawing oriental objects to scale. In his children's books illustrations, he is particularly inspired by what he calls "the gooniness" of young school children. John and his family divide their time between Brighton, England and Long Island, New York.

John grew up in Bogotá, Colombia and studied graphic design at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He still lives there with his wife Ana and 2 children, Avril and Ian. He is fortunate enough to work in his home studio, where he is able to share his passion of drawing and painting with his children while working on projects. He started drawing at an early age and when he was six year old, his parents enrolled him in his first painting, sculpture, and character design class. He remembers his first attempt at illustration drawing Transformers and "Condorito" (a comic character based on anthropomorphic condor from a Chilean cartoonist). He was hooked. John continued to study art with plastic artists. When not illustrating, he enjoys spending quality time with his children, playing soccer with his friends, watching movies and traveling. He has recently visited Argentina, Cuba, and Peru.

Jomike Tejido is an architect and award-winning illustrator and author who has made over 50 children’s books in his hometown in Manila. Some of which are Tagu-Taguan (Hide and Seek) (1st National Children’s book awards, Best Reads 2010), The Amazing Hat, and the Foldabots Toy Books. He has also worked with Oxford University Press, McGraw-Hill, and most recently, Scholastic. Jomike enjoys art inspired by nature and is reflective in his other venture as a painter on hand-woven mats. Apart from art, Jomike enjoys playing soccer, eating seafood, cooking and traveling to new places. Jomike lives in Manila, Philippines with his wife and baby daughter, Sophia.

Tom began work as senior art director for JP Morgan Chase in New York City, shortly after receiving his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1993. Two years later, he was illustrating for nationally-known publications, including Time magazine, Rolling Stone, the Wall Street Journal, Entertainment Weekly, Sports Illustrated, Business Week, TV Guide, Barron's, Forbes and Smart Money. Corporate clients have included MGM, Dupont and Colgate. Throughout his career, Reis has also worked as a fine artist, producing work with all the refinement that one would expect from a classically trained painter. Abby has drawn all of her life. When she was eleven, she and her grandmother had a card business: Abby drew, and her grandmother sold. In college she studied art, but also liked science and nutrition, and wished there was a way to combine it all. Several years later, after she was married and had a daughter, she and her husband founded Fresh Samantha, the juice company, which fulfilled that dream. In addition to her graphics for Fresh Samantha, she has illustrated many picture books and chapter books for children. She says that she loves to draw odd characters, and hates to draw straight lines. Abby lives with her husband and two children in Connecticut.

Laura Ralli is an italian artist, a sculptor, a storyboard artist, a character designer, an illustrator of books for children and young. She combines traditional and digital techniques.

Mike began freelance illustration after several years as the owner of Reelworks, an animation studio specializing in commercial and entertainment films. A regular contributor to The Minneapolis Star Tribune, he has taught illustration at both the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and Rhode Island School of Design, and currently teaches part-time at the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul. His highly textured, somewhat abstracted and sometimes zany style adapts to the needs of a wide range of clients, including advertising, design, editorial and juvenile publishing. Born in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, Carolina began her career as a children’s book illustrator after working for several well-known animation studios. She currently lives in La Plata with her husband, Marcelo and their two beautiful children, Sara and Francisco. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in art, she began teaching at the university. She continues to teach with the same passion and dedication that is also evident in her illustrations. Over the years she has published books, sometimes as both the author and illustrator. Carolina likes to spend her free time drawing even while traveling with her family. She only needs a sharp pencil to keep her creativity flowing. Her artwork is created using a variety of mediums with a preference towards watercolors and acrylics. To date, Carolina is part of the White Ravens 2008 list for the Bologna Book Fair, where she has also been selected to represent Argentina.

Born in the heartland of south-central Minnesota, John’s first formal art education came at the age of ten from a local artist who taught classes out of his garage. Upon finishing high school, John enrolled in the College of Visual Arts on Summit Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota. John’s first place of employment featured designers, illustrators, cartoonists, and photo retouching. That experience left John wanting to be able to do as many different mediums as possible. So to this day, he not only works in traditional mediums, but he also has extensive experience with several digital programs, including 3D.
